As usual, I am slow to keep up with this blog. Things have been a bit crazy since November!
January brought the usual...clean up Christmas and my new favorite, CLEAN UP TOYS...out with the old and in with the new!
February brought a lot of changes for me. On the 27th I had an accident and broke my leg in 5 places. After 10 days of doctor's appointments and pure misery I finally had surgery to fix everything. The surgeon cut an incision in the lower part of my knee to insert a rod then put in 1 screw at the top of the rod and 2 at the bottom to keep it in place
On March 9th I went in to Redlands Community Hospital to have a rod put in my left leg to straighten my knee back out with my ankle and also had a screw put into my ankle to keep in intact. I am unable to put any weight on that leg until the ankle bone heals. Needless to say crutches with a 2 year old is a bit challenging! Makenna has been a huge help and she understands that mommy's leg hurts. Every now and again she will hit my knee accidentially (which bothers me the most) and she immediately breaks down. She definitely has a sensitive spot! She buries her head in her hands and tells me, "Mommy, I'm so sorry."
Now that I am finally on the road to recovery I have taken up driving again! Getting Makenna in and out of the car is simple, but grocery shopping or running quick errands is a thing of the past for me!
Makenna is doing well! The worst part about this whole situation is that I have pulled her out of daycare. Since I am home all the time there is no need to send her. It will be a challenge to get her back in the habit of going when the time comes, but she needs the interaction with the kids. Currently, Makenna can count to 20, sometimes 25 and she knows her entire alphabet in order! She loves to sing and lately she and I have spent a lot of time watching Nick Jr., thank goodness it is educational :) I am definitely getting some quality time with her that I didn't get before. We sit on the couch and play dolls, we draw and color. Oh, and she's learned to spell her name which has been the beginning of her identifying her letters. Of course, I am in awe about how smart she is! She really is making great learning progress and for a 2 year old she has a very good demeanor, even though she does test my patients quite often!
