'Tis the Season (post from mommy)

There's a definite chill in the air and I feel the season of the magic of Santa coming on!  Each year I think I will get more and more excited as the season creeps up on us to see the excitement in Makenna's face as we celebrate each new holiday tradition!
Starting in October, I began teaching her "HO HO HO"  she finally caught on and knows that Santa says "HO HO!!!'  The house isn't completely decorated yet, but I'm sure I will have my work cut out for me once it is, she is into EVERYTHING now...walking and all!  Yes, that's right...Makenna is walking!  She's been taking a few steps here and there for about 2 weeks now, but as of Saturday she is getting up from the sitting position and off she goes.  She still isn't completely balanced and I like to say that she's finally found her walking legs, but is still searching for the rest of her balance!  A new phase in her life and mine has definitely arrived!  I cannot believe how quickly one little person can change, just 2 months ago she was a completely different little girl.  I guess welcome to reality mommy!

Mommy's Reminescing Moment

Wow...can you believe I'm ONE now!  Here's the scoop on what I've been up to these past few months:

I can crawl like a pro and have mastered the stairs!  I have 2 bottom teeth that have almost completely come in and I have 4 on top working their way in.  I'm talking a lot (even if only I understand what I'm talking about!)  I say "momma", "da-eh" (for doggy), "HI", "Beau" (the bulldog), "more", "Ty" (my most favorite stuffed animal) and I'm trying to say "bye" and "poppa".  Mommy's favorite thing is that I'm learning to get in the cupboards (HE HE HE)!  There are fun things in there that I never knew about!  I got the best pink car for my birthday and I spend a lot of time riding around in it or pushing it through the house, mommy says it's helping me get my walking legs!!!

Sweet Summertime!

It's been a long time since mommy & I have posted anything so here's an update!

This summer we had lots of fun checking out places I've never been.  

I went to Lake Havasu and got to go on the boat.  

Mommy took me to Hawaii for a week to see my Aunt, Uncle, and cousins.  I also got to go to the beach where my name came from!  In case you didn't know Makena is mommy's favorite beach on Maui.  I spent a week playing at the beach, swinging in the back yard, and playing with my cousins...being on Maui was rough! 

We went to our condo in Solona Beach for a week.  Mommy, G-ma, and I walked on the beach everyday and most mornings I took my nap on our walks.  I spent my days eating lunch by the pool, swimming, and playing in the water!

Our last adventure of the summer was going to Sea World.  I LOVED the sea lions, they bark like my doggie Dafnee!  I really liked the new dolphin show too, there were lots of pretty colors and dancing water...how could a baby like me not enjoy all the commotion!

Now fall is in the air and we're getting ready for Halloween!  Before we know it Santa will be coming again so I have to remember to be a good girl so I get everything I ask for!

Look Out...I'm 8 Months Old Now

Yes that's right...I'm growing so fast!  And best of all...I CAN CRAWL!  Being a big girl is so much fun...I crawl all over the place and like to follow everyone around.  I still don't have any teeth, but someday soon!  I can feed myself finger foods (cut up banana, Cheerios, etc.) and have tasted a lot of really yummy new foods!  Who ever thought that growing up would be so cool!
Mid-May I started scooting around on the floor and by May 22 I learned what crawling was all about!  Now I like to scoot things around on the ground while I crawl!  I wave HI and BYE and even though nobody else may be able to interpret it, I can say "HI" and "BYE".  I learned how to shoo flies in the garage, I clap and I can pull myself up on things too! 
I went on my first trip to Lake Havasu on Memorial weekend and again in the beginning of June.  I am leaving on July 1st to head out for the 4th of July then home for a few days and I get to go to Hawaii for the very fist time!  Mommy says I am very excited because I get to meet a few of my cousins for the very fist time! Good thing I'm a good H2O baby because it looks like I am going on many adventures with water this summer!

6 Months

Wow...how time flies!  I am 6 months old now!  At my doctor's check up I weighed 13 lbs. 3 oz. and am almost 27" long.  The doctor says I am in the 85th % for my height and that I am growing like a weed.

Here's what I have accomplished...
I can sit up all by myself now, although I fall over after about 30 seconds.
I can get up on my hands and knees and do the"rocking" thing & stink bug move!
I learned how to drink out of a straw and love my sippy cup.
I stared eating rice cereal, but prefer my liquid diet over that yucky stuff!
I had my first swim day in G-ma's spa and love to splash and eat bubbles from the jets.  I even went under water!

Rain, rain go away...Makenna wants to go outside and play!
Thanks to this rainy day Mommy finally got my blog up to date so that we can keep everyone posted!
I am 5 1/2 months old now and so full of fun and personality.  At my 4 month doctor's visit I weighed 11lbs. 7oz. and was 24" long.  I got my first set of shots and was not happy about it at all.  I went to the doctor again for my second set of shots 1 month later and at my 6 month check up I get more and will be all caught up!  My hair is starting to grow in and who would have thought...I have strawberry blonde locks!  I think my great grandma Gillman had a little part in that (she loved red hair)!

I can roll from my tummy to my back and from my back to my tummy and am practicing my arm strength so that I can crawl.  I like to play on the floor with my toys and have jumpies that keep me going and help strengthen my legs...before you know it I'll be walking off to college...toothless, but none the less!

I love doggies, they make me laugh (that's about all that makes me laugh) and I always have my eyes on DafneeDog.  Soon enough I will be crawling around chasing her and giving her a run for her money!  I love to go outside and play on my beach towel and cannot wait for the weather to get warm so that I can go swimming in the "big bathtub" and go to the lake, only problem is...I get sunburned very easily so hats and sunscreen will be my new best friend this summer!
